Welcome to Spring 2012!
Ahhhh!!! Spring term is here & trippees (that’s you, 16s!) arrive in just under five months! Today, most Dartmouth students are arriving back to Hanover as classes for the spring term begin tomorrow. We just wrapped up a relaxing and enjoyable 2 week spring break, but now it’s time to get down to business as Trips 201 is fast approaching!
Here are some highlights from the winter term:
- Emo (Trips Director) brought on Farzeen as her assistant director
- Emo & Farzeen brought on 15 more people to form the DOC First-Year Trips Directorate! The Directorate is the team of people responsible for planning and organizing the Trips program.
- The Directorate sent out applications to Dartmouth students to find the BEST team of Trip Leaders & support Croo members (aka “Croolings”) possible. This program relies on a LOT of wonderful volunteers, so we’re excited to bring them on board this term.
- We held a few different events with various student groups and hosted a “Launch Party” to get all of campus excited and informed about DOC First-Year Trips!
So, looking ahead to the next few months…
The directorate will be assembling a team of close to 400 volunteers (trip leaders & croolings)..and then our incredible Trip Leader Trainers (TLTs) will host a few different training workshops to ensure that you will be in good hands when you come on your DOC Trip this fall!
At the same time, we’re working hard on a BIG packet of information to send to you about DOC First-Year Trips, how to register, what to bring, and all that fun stuff. Keep a look out for this packet later on this term…it will have lots of important details and dates for you to look over.
At the SAME time (we’re becoming expert multi-taskers here), we’re working on planning out all the different DOC Trip options you will be able to register for. We have a wide variety of trips for people of all experience levels. So don’t worry if you have never been in the woods before or don’t like to hike…there’s so many different choices for what to do on your DOC Trip! We’re still finalizing the options, but some of the trips include:
- Nature Photography
- Cabin Camping
- Rock Climbing
- …and much more!
Emo & Farzeen (the director and assistant director, respectively) are in the office part-time this term, so if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us! More updates to come soon, so stay tuned. In the meantime, follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook, and explore our website!
