About the DOC First-Year Trips Program:
Founded in 1935, the Dartmouth Outing Club’s First-Year Trips program has provided students with a unique introduction to Dartmouth College and its community. Trips is a five-day, outdoor, pre-orientation program designed to welcome incoming students to Dartmouth! Now in its 80th year, the program has always been entirely run by students, for students, which is a beautiful, beautiful thing.
DOC First-Year Trips exists to give all incoming students an unforgettable welcome to the Dartmouth community. Trips provides students with an introduction to the College’s traditions and spirit, as well as a safe and positive experience exploring all that New Hampshire has to offer in the outdoors. Trips creates common ground for first-year students, a space to build lasting friendships and social support systems. The program facilitates connections to upperclass students across the campus, giving first-year students an opportunity to understand the wide range of experiences possible at Dartmouth.
